General Cable, a leading company in the international cable market, has just put into operation an original campaign to support its installer technicians. This campaign consists of including a free set of practical tools with the Exzhellent XXI RZ1-K (AS) 1000 V and Energy RV-K Foc cable rolls. The tools form part of a collection and include different objects, all customised with the corporate logo and colours.
In particular, the objects that the installers may receive include a practical toolbelt, a measuring tape, a tester, a screwdriver, a cutter, pliers, scissors and a knife. Such utensils are commonly used by these professionals and are extremely useful. The initiative forms part of General Cable’s policy of supporting its installers and making their task a little easier from the technical and service standpoints.
Exzhellent XXI RZ1-K (AS) 1000 V
The High Safety Exzhellent XXI RZ1-K (AS) 1000 V cable range is the most flexible and easiest cable to handle in the market, thereby enabling ease of installation and saving time and money.
These are high safety cables that prevent fire from spreading, reduce the opacity of smoke emissions, are halogen-free and reduce the acidity and corrosive properties of the gases emitted during combustion. They can be used at maximum operating temperatures of 90 ºC, and are also able to withstand very low operating temperatures (up to –40 ºC).
These cables are compulsory in link installations (general supply line and individual shunts), as specified by the Low Voltage Regulation in the respective ITC-BT-14 and 15, and in public places, in accordance with ITC-BT-28.
Another advance offered by General Cable is that from a cross section of 50 sq mm onwards, the Exzhellent XXI RZ1-K (AS) 1000 V cables also include the Sectorflex configuration, with a flexible sectorial conductor with the same electrical features and the same conventional terminals and accessories as circular cables but with a smaller diameter and weight, thereby significantly increasing ease of handling and ease of installation.
Energy RV-K Foc
In turn, the Energy RV-K Foc cables are flexible, low voltage cables that are durable and resistant to oil and heat, and very easy to handle. Conventional cables insulated with PVC can withstand maximum conductor temperatures of 70 ºC in permanent operation but the 0.6 kV Energy RV-K Foc cables are able to withstand temperatures of up to 90 ºC.
On the other hand, the quality of the materials used to make them and the thickness of the insulation and coating are perfectly adapted to the specifications of the UNE 21123-2 standard, with a smaller outer diameter in relation to the equivalent PVC insulated cables. For this reason, the Energy RV-K Foc cables permit radii of curvature that are smaller in proportion. In addition, regardless of their cross sections, they can withstand much higher short circuit and overload currents than PVC-insulated cables. Insulated XLPE conductors can withstand short circuit temperatures of 250 ºC and 230 ºC in emergency conditions, whereas for PVC-insulated conductors, these limits are 160 ºC and 95 ºC, respectively.
The Energy RV-K Foc cables are also extremely flexible and have larger load capacities. Their admissible permanent operating current is higher than that of PVC-insulated cables of the same type.
As in the case of the Exzhellent XXI RZ1-K (AS) 1000 V cables, Energy RV-K Foc cables with cross sections of 50 sq mm and over may have the Sectorflex configuration, with a flexible sectorial conductor that gives them a smaller diameter and less weight in comparison with circular cables. They also comply with the AENOR standard.
