General Cable, the premier company on the international cable market, has just made a new program available to its customers to calculate the section of the right medium-voltage cables for their installation. This practical programme is available on the company website (www.generalcable.es), specifically, in the “Tool Box” section, and can be consulted in Spanish, English and French.

The programme is designed to make it easy to determine the right cable section for the electrical system and type of installation. It is very easy to use: simply enter the technical features of each installation (general parameters, intensity, temperature factors, number of circuits, etc.) to get immediate information about the necessary section according to the national and international regulations applicable in each case. The data entered and the results obtained can be printed out or e-mailed very easily. This information is especially useful for installers, designers and engineering firms.

Some years ago, General Cable created a similar program for low-voltage cables. This was initially published on CD-ROM and subsequently added to the company website. Both these initiatives are part of General Cable’s determination to make the job of installation and engineering companies easier when they approach the design of an electrical installation.
