General Cable has once again shown it is the number one company not only in flexibility, but also in gifts. It has recently extended the innovative campaign of support for installers, which was initiated some time ago and involves giving away some practical work tools with its rolls of Exzhellent XXI RZ1-K (AS) 1000 V and Energy RV-K Foc series cables.
The range of new gifts includes a flat screwdriver, cable-stripper pliers, a spirit level, an LED torch, insulation tape and pencils. All these articles bear the company logo and corporate colours and complement the tool bag, tape measure, tester, screwdriver, cutter, pliers, scissors and knife, which were offered previously.
These are very commonly used tools in the everyday work of installers and of great practical use. They may all also be stored in a very handy work belt. The initiative features as part of General Cable’s policy to provide constant support to installers and to make their technical and service work a little easier.
Exzhellent XXI RZ1-K (AS) 1000 V
The High Safety (AS), Exzhellent XXI RZ1-K (AS) 1000 V cable range is the most flexible and manageable on the market with which to undertake any installation easily and safely while saving time and money.
It features high-safety, non-fire propagating, halogen-free cables with low emission of opaque smoke and toxic and corrosive gases during combustion. They may operate at a maximum service temperature of 90º C and are also able to work at very low temperatures (to –40º C).
These cables are of compulsory use in link installations (general supply and individual branch lines), as established by the Spanish Low Voltage Regulation in technical instructions ITC-BT-14 and 15, and in ITC-BT-28 for premises used by the public.
Another benefit offered by General Cable is that from a section of 50 square millimetres upwards, Exzhellent XXI RZ1-K (AS) 1000 V cables may also come with a Sectorflex configuration, which features a flexible sector-shaped conductor with an identical electrical performance and the same terminals and conventional accessories as circular cables yet a lower diameter and weight, which increase its manageability and ease of installation considerably.
Energy RV-K Foc
Energy RV-K Foc, meanwhile, are flexible low-voltage cables that are very long lasting, resistant to oils and to conditions of heat, and also extremely manageable. Conventional PVC-insulated cables can withstand a maximum conductor temperature of 70º C while in constant service, whereas 0.6-kV Energy RV-K Foc cables can withstand up to 90º C.
The quality of the materials used in their manufacture and their insulation and jacket thicknesses comply perfectly with the provisions of the UNE 21123-2 standard, while the outer diameter is lower than the equivalent PVC-insulated cables. Energy RV-K Foc cables therefore allow for proportionally smaller curvature radiuses. Moreover, they can withstand much higher short-circuiting and overload intensities than PVC-insulated cables with sections of the same size. While XLPE insulated conductors can withstand temperatures of 250º C prior to short-circuiting and 230º C in emergency conditions, the same limits for PVC insulated conductors are 160º C and 95º C respectively.
Energy RV-K Foc cables are also remarkably flexible and have a higher load capacity. Their permissible intensity in permanent service is higher than that of PVC-insulated cables of the same type.
As in the case of Exzhellent XXI RZ1-K (AS) 1000 V, from a section of 50 mm upwards, RV-K Foc can include the Sectorflex configuration, which features a flexible sector-shaped conductor that yields a lower diameter and weight than circular cables. Both cable types have AENOR certification.
