General Cable, a world leader in the cable sector, has recently published a new catalogue of the range of Exzhellent Solar cables, designed especially for photovoltaic solar energy installations on roofs and in solar farms. In recent years, this clean, alternative source of energy has been experiencing sharp growth in Spain, to which General Cable is contributing with the Exzhellent Solar range.
The practically designed and abundantly illustrated catalogue gives thorough details of the company’s cables for this sector, specifically of the Exzhellent Solar ZZ-F (AS) and the Exzhellent Solar XZ1FA3Z-K (AS), which are manufactured to withstand the demanding environmental conditions typical of fixed, mobile, rooftop or architecturally-integrated photovoltaic installations. These cables provide maximum efficiency in installations and guarantee evacuation of the energy produced throughout the installation’s useful life.
One of the outstanding features of the catalogue is a practical typical installation diagram, which shows very graphic and clear details of how and where to position the cables. This diagram shows how to connect photovoltaic panels and modules, install direct current (DC) Low Voltage between panels and connection boxes, between connection boxes and the inverter, and to the transformer in alternating current (AC). It also shows the location of the cables for the Medium Voltage circuit and for overhead lines, and provides a quick connection diagram. The practical nature of the graphic will make the installer’s work easier.
Through the use of pictograms the catalogue specifies the compulsory features of the cables in the Exzhellent Solar range, such as extreme weather resistance (extreme temperatures, ultraviolet rays, water absorption), useful life (30 years), mechanical resistance (impact, abrasion, tearing) and their High Safety (AS) features in fire conditions (halogen free, low smoke opacity, low corrosive gas emission, non-fire propagating). Each of these features is endorsed in accordance with extensively acknowledged international standards (IEC, UL or EN).
The catalogue also provides technical specifications such as the section, weight, exterior diameter, minimum radius of curvature, overhead and underground intensity and the DC voltage drop of each cable in the range. The last section features contact details of all General Cable’s production plants, commercial and branch offices in Spain and worldwide.
